return to orphanage

гендерным путъём
A government official in Moscow on Wednesday demanded access to a Russian baby who he claims was adopted by a "freaky" American family, according toRussian media sources.
Russian officials are claiming they have a right to protect the Russian-born child who they say was adopted by a couple of lesbians in the United States, a senior official said Wednesday.
"This is another immoral trick of the Americans. Two lesbians cheated a Russian court in 2007 to adopt a Russian child," announced Konstantin Dolgov, Russia's so-called foreign envoy for human rights and supremacy of law.
Russian officials claim that the two lesbians were divorced in 2009 after adopting the child, whose name and age are being withheld. Right after the divorce, the two female parents files lawsuits against one another requesting a judge to give each opponent exclusive custody rights for the adopted child.
"This refers to psychological trauma inflicted on the child in this freaky family," Dolgov said.
The Russian officials are urging U.S. authorities to intercede on their behalf and to take the child into protective custody and allow Russian diplomats already on assignment in the U.S. to visit and examine the child.
In a controversial move around the 2012 Christmas holiday, Russia's legislature, with the prodding of President Vladimir Putin, passed a law in that bans adoption of Russian children by Americans. The law went into effect on Jan. 1, 2013.
President Putin said that Russian orphans should be adopted in their homeland. However, advocates for gay and lesbian adoptions claim Putin and the Russian leaders are homophobes who wish to deprive certain Americans the same rights enjoyed by heterosexuals.

why women have no children

Women who choose to be permanently childfree perceive more social pressures to become mothers than other women, but feel less distress about not having kids than women who are childless from infertility or other reasons, a new national study shows:

  • Motherhood is so highly connected with adult femininity (what is it?) in the United States that many women feel that they need to be mothers
  • In recent years more U.S. women - estimates suggest about 20 percent - are ending childbearing years without having children. Some can't conceive because of biomedical infertility; others simply delay because of financial concerns, educational demands, job demands, not finding the right partner or other situational barriers. Guess, 3/4 of them simply did not want to have.
  • influence from others to have children was associated with distress only if the women considered motherhood important
  • as reproductive options have increased, both for limiting fertility and overcoming fertility barriers, we are learning what is devastating for some women is a relief for other women

Sexual Education in Denmark

DFPA launches 5th edition of successful CSE campaign in Danish schools

For the 5th year running the Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA) on Monday launches a national campaign on comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in Danish primary schools, lower secondary schools and upper secondary schools.

Once again the campaign is reaching record numbers of participants – all in all a total of 186,252 pupils aged from 10 to 19 years are enrolled in the campaign named Uge Sex (Week Sex).

Week Sex targets pupils from 4th to 13th grade in Danish primary and secondary schools. Almost 40 percent of pupils in primary and lower secondary schools in Denmark participate in the campaign in week six from the 6th to the 10th of February.
The purpose of Week Sex is to give teachers the opportunity to access quality CSE materials, which ensure captivating and professional sexuality education. The DFPA produces new materials for both pupils and teachers every year.

This year the title of the campaign is ’Gender really matters’, focusing on the desire, opportunities and right to express your gender on your own terms – without being discriminated.

The Danish minister for Education and Children, Christine Antorini says:
- The DFPA manages the important task of bringing into focus subjects, that can be difficult to talk about and the association has just assisted us in making whole new materials for the teachers. It focuses on the right to be who you are and contributes to the opportunity to teach about sexuality in a very competent way.

When the DFPA launched Week Sex in 2008, 39,000 students were enrolled, and that number has grown steadily over the past five years. In 2005 the DFPA carried out a mapping of CSE in Danish schools, which showed that only 1 in 10 teachers were satisfied with the comprehensive sexuality education they were offering. It showed a lack of knowledge among teachers as well as lack of current CSE materials in the schools.

In 2012 the campaign has grown to consist of:

  • 14 different materials targeting both pupils and teachers at different levels of education · A total of 620 pages of material was produced this year. ·
  • The target groups are grade 4-6, 7-9, 10-13, different kinds of upper secondary schools (vocational schools, production schools, trade/economic schools, general upper secondary schools) and as well as schools for pupils with disabilities.
  • 3 different websites targeting different age groups.
  • 23 videos with pupils and famous people in Denmark + pupils and LGBT activists Uganda talking about gender issues.
  • Events around the country – among these a pre-launch event Thursday at the Danish Parliament where 11 MPs were taught CSE with media present.

2012 is the first year that the DFPA has included international angels to the campaign bringing in the voices of young girls and boys from Uganda on the same issues of gender that the Danish pupils were asked in the videos. Also, an article and two longer videos on LGBT rights and laws in Uganda/Africa/rest of the world are included in the CSE material.
2012 is also the second year that Sex og Politikk in Norway has adapted the campaign material to their own Week Sex campaign reaching a total of almost 37.000 pupils this year.
The Danish campaign also reaches Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Next year, the campaign will also reach grade 2-3 and the following year grade 0-1.

Children from incomplete families

a portion of Vatican doc
KIDS: HEALTHIER, WEALTHIER, AND YET WORSE OFF
Report Highlights Increased Dangers Facing Children
 By Father John Flynn, LC

Negative impact

In Scotland a study found that young people in 2006 reported poorer family relationships compared to 1987. It was carried out to find the cause of a substantial increase in psychological distress by 15-year-olds.

Another study, in the United States, followed the experiences of 2,000 married people over 15 years. It found that in marriages with high levels of conflict there were more problems in the relations between parents and children. Marital unhappiness had a negative impact of the children's well-being. Divorce also had a deleterious effect.

Other studies show that divorce is a significant risk factor for children's emotional state and academic performance. One American study also found a connection between parental divorce and the life span of their children. Children from divorced families died almost five years earlier than those from intact marriages.

Moreover, Parkinson pointed out, parental conflict and tensions don't necessarily end with separation and can sometimes even increase, with arguments about the dividing of assets, parenting arrangements and child support.

When it comes to lone-parent families Parkinson referred to a large Australian study that found higher levels of conflict in step-families and single parent families than in intact ones. Step-families in particular stood out for being a source of tension.

Another Australian study looked at the results of divorce on the adult lives of the children whose parents had separated. On all measures of adverse outcomes the children who had experienced divorce had worse outcomes. These ranged from precocious sexual activity, cohabitation and childbirth before the age of 20, and educational results.

One of the results of divorce that has a big impact on children is that many of them have little contact with their father following the separation. One study carried out in 2001 reported that 36% of fathers had not seen their youngest child in the last 12 months.
Depression and poor results at school are associated in adolescents who have infrequent contact with their divorced father, independently of how close they are to their mothers.

donor is donor or three parents

"Don't Be Afraid"A Sydney sperm donor has been erased from his 10-year-old daughter's birth certificate and replaced with the lesbian partner of the biological mother. As reported in BioEdge, the partner had sued to add her name to the birth certificate because it was far more convenient for the child - even though the two women have now split up. The unnamed 58-year-old man is furious.

"Fathers have been thrown in the trash can. I'm absolutely outraged. I don't even know if I can call her my daughter, like father's day is in two weeks time. Am I now her father? What am I?

"As far as I can see I'm nothing. I'm just a donor who donated sperm to make a child, not even my daughter. I can't even call her my daughter now. She's not my daughter as far as the law's concerned.

"I have no legal rights whatsoever. The judge has totally ignored the rights of the child. The child does have a right to know their identity. The judge totally ignored that, so it's just a very bad day for fathers."

The judge showed sympathy for the man's disappointment and mused that allowing three parents on a birth certificate might be a solution -- although this might create still more problems. ~ ABC News, Aug 18
